#1 · Nov 30, 2007 I am the very happy owner of a 156 JTD 20v. It's nearly four years old, and has nearly 80k on the clock. Of course, very happy though I am, I do sometimes wonder about The Next Car and the obvious choice is a 159. BUT, I don't think it looks as good as a 156 and the reviews I have read in the mags seem underwhelming.

#1 · Jan 27, 2010 I might get kicked around here, but when I look at our 159 SW and at someone elses (or our old) 156 SW, I tend to think "damn, that looks sporty and slick". about the 156. It´s something with it being lower (roof) and slimmer that gives it unusual dimensions that is tres cool.

The 147/156's have a terrible rep for front suspension, but it seems the 159s were considerably improved. Some say you should watch out for subframes rusting prematurely on 159s, but it doesn't seem to affect most 159s. That said, like any other car it still pays to make sure everything is sound suspension-wise as it can get expensive. HTH

From what I've read, the 156 is a more dynamic drive, and is slightly faster, despite the 159's marginal power hike. Personally I quite like the front face of the 159, but either way neither is exactly a minger. Just for reference, these are what the two gorgeous cars look like. The 159 is probably a ''better car'' but that doesnt make it more desirable I suspect that the 156 is more nimble, but apart from the gorgeous front view give me a 156 any day IMO the 156 looks better as an all round car.

Styling/looks: When the 159 was dropped off my first thought was wow, what a stunning car.
